Would BMW's Vision EfficientDynamics concept go into production looking like this? ~ TheFazz

i previously posted something on BMW's Vision EfficientDynamics concept (yes, it is a mouthful).

it is such an amazing and beautiful concept car that i think has to make it into production. this would certainly establish a name for BMW of being green and exciting at the same time: no compromises.

now, a couple of renderings of what might be the "real" thing has cropped up on bmwblog.com: here and here.

which one do you think is better?

the first rendering?

the second rendering?

i would think many cannot wait to see this car go into production.

dr randy pausch last lectures talks about dreams & quality of life ~ TheFazz

dr randy pausch died on 25 july 2008 age 47. the father of 3 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and lost his battle, but not before giving a series of lectures called the "last lecture". he talks nothing about the disease, religion or dispair. but his brilliant spirit shines through as he talks about achieving dreams, help others achieve their dreams and the quality of life in general.

How Simplicity Can Help Creativity, Briefly ~ TheFazz

source site - How Simplicity Can Help Creativity, Briefly

The judicious application of simplicity can help someone to create, whether that’s writing, creating art, designing, teaching, starting a small business, or in some other way making ideas take shape into reality.

People who want to create are hampered by complications — tools that are too complicated, projects that are too overwhelming, the distractions of the modern world, too many cooks, too many options, too busy.

Simplify, and many of these problems go away.

Clearing clutter is a great way to create space for new ideas, thoughts and creativity.

The hectic information age is generally bad news for creativity. We cannot run away from 24/7 service, technologies and communication. However, we can strive to do less in every area that we work on. Find non-value adding stuff. Ruthlessly chop them off.

Use technology to simplify.

Challenge everything we do. Why do we do things we've being doing all this while?

HOW TO: Get the Most Out of Posterous ~ TheFazz

Link: http://mashable.com/2009/09/06/posterous-guide/ (via shareaholic)i've had a posterous account for some time now.  however, i have not been using it much mainly due to my lack of understanding on how to make the most of it. therefore the article from mashable is a useful guide on using posterous.  i am going to explore it a bit more. BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept - green & mean ~ TheFazz

BMW has followed up the M1 homage concept with a daring green and mean concept car. In one go, this concept - the Vision EfficientDynamics - concept vaults BMW straight into both the supercar and green vehicle categories in a single leap.

i do hope that this car makes it into production as the images are hot.

updating the site to drupal 6 ~ TheFazz

i recently updated this site to drupal 6.

it was a fairly delicate task.

i had to follow a few steps to make sure that the update worked ok. the first is to put the site on maintenance mode and to backup all my database, settings of the old drupal 5 site. then i created a duplicate "staging" site to test the new site with the new drupal 6 code. then i had to test each version 6 module and themes to make sure that it worked on the new site. once, i got that working, then i ported over to the "production" site. standard upgrade procedures i guess.

still, doing all this at night was not the best. the mind often doesn't work that well at night. lol.

80s British comic nostalgia ~ TheFazz

I grew up reading a bunch of comics.

I initially started with the Marvel / DC types, then moved on to the British comics such as 2000AD and Tiger whilst in secondary school, and returned to Marvel / DC after that when i studied in the UK.

I have a whole range of comic reading materials, but today had a bit of a nostalgia time googling the 80s British comics. I have not seen these comics for a long time now. And of the characters I remember reading, only Judge Dredd and Dan Dare remain in recent memory. So i decided to check out the titles i used to read. So here are some of them (i would be happy if others can jog my memory too)...

Artist Renderings: BMW S.X. Concept ~ TheFazz

source site - Artist Renderings: BMW S.X. Concept

The BMW world doesn’t suffer from lack of rendering artists - some better than others - especially since the BMW design language is one of the most interesting ones among automakers.

We have seen in the past several independent renderings that usually try to fill the gap of a missing BMW supercar on the market: M-Zero Concept, Supercar Concept and M Concept. There were also several design studies among the students at several European universities, some of these projects even sanctioned by BMW: Concepts of the future or the LayerON Personalized Car.

Well, today, another talented rendering artists makes waves around the web with a new concept: BMW S.X.
