In a nutshell: A fantasy film based on the Novel Northern Lights - one of the Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman. The trailer looks good (as most do anyway).

I am Legend was ok. I give it an average 3 out of 5. The story's ending was different to the book. Will Smith is a great actor but the story lacked a bit of the doom and gloom of the book. Just another apocalyptic film. I thought 28 days later was better, and preceded this.

The Golden Compass is a 2 out of 5. Didn't read the book, so can't compare. However, the story is clearly meant to be a lot more which made fitting it into film time rather difficult. The pacing dragged quite a bit, and I spent most of the film trying to get used to the characters and the fantasy world.
