i like this article which demonstrates some of the near future notebook designs.

As an example, have a look at the Vaio Zoom Holographic Concept Notebook. It has a clear screen when not in use. its keyboard is touch sensitive - so when not in use, it becomes a blank/opaque surface. cool!
