Innovate Malaysia blog feeds ~ TheFazz

feeds from innovate malaysia (http://innovatemalaysia.groups.my)

This site is setup for the purpose of civil discussions and idea sharing on how we can contribute towards an Innovative Malaysia - on how we can create the right conditions for an innovative society in Malaysia.

This is not however, a political / governmental / opposition site. Our goal is to make our voices heard: we are more than willing to work with either government or opposition to do this - but we must remain neutral and objective all the while.

The subject of innovation is a very wide topic - however, we believe that education and empowerment are the true keys to having an innovative society. The goal is to create the right conditions to achieve an innovative and productive society.

The hypothesis is that innovation comes from the right approach to education coupled with significant empowerment to the people that have great ideas. A large aspect of achieving this can be aided by technology - currently the web 2.0 technology and mindsets have shown great results in creating value through empowering people and communities. Furthermore, the governance model to achieve this must allow greater freedom and minimal intervention from leaders. To achieve balance - information transparency will be vital so that no one has anywhere to hide in terms of accountability - only then can we rely on fewer bureaucratic controls.

Pivotal role in raising children ~ TheFazz

source site - Pivotal role

RAISING children is a paradoxical task. It starts out really hard for parents who want to do a good job of caring for their children. You think that all the hard work will pay off as the child gets older, but things do not always stay the same.

Parents have to be consistent when dealing with children, yet they have to keep up with the changes as their children grow and develop.

Is education killing creativity? ~ TheFazz

source site - Presentation Zen: Is education killing creativity?

British reporter Riz Khan put together a nice 20 minute interview last week with Sir Ken Robinson, our favorite creativity and education expert (and famous TED presenter). Even if you've seen Sir Ken's 2006 TED presentation, you'll find this interview an entertaining and thought-provoking refresher. Rizwan Khan is a veteran of the BBC and CNN; he currently hosts the Riz Khan Show on Al Jazeera English.

i've always believed that creativity is a key ingredient to human advancements. i would also argue that mathematics and science has more in common with art - especially when exploring the unknown. check out the video.

bluehyppo education programmes ~ TheFazz

Just learnt that bluehyppo and TM smart schools have collaborated on education content at the following website:

bluehyppo b-smart website

This includes govt school syllabus from standard 1 all the way to form 5. The materials look interesting, although not quite top notch levels. But this is sufficient to get by.

In addition to this TM Smart Schools have also developed School Management Systems which would allow the school management to use a web based interface to run the school administration. The benefit of this is for parents to be able to view various school and children performance online...
