A record of all the miscellaneous thoughts, journals and wanderings about stuff in general.

Phones to be and stay connected - good or bad? ~ TheFazz

Technology today is changing at a hectic pace. Keeping up is causing me breathlessness. Damn, I must commit to some workout here.

On occassion I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and not moving anywhere fast. So much work, so little progress. Sounds almost vogonian.

Frank Miller's 300 ~ TheFazz

Anybody who reads batman and daredevil graphic novels will know the name Frank Miller. It has been a while however since Miller penned anything related to either of the DC or Marvel superhero stories.

He has produced some landmark graphic novels such as -

Time to move to space? ~ TheFazz

I didn't realise that there was such a thing as a space conference. Found this on a Wired article in my RSS feed.

The recently held Space 2006 Conference in San Jose, California was a bit about selling a life (living?) in space. But the problem with living in space is gravity.. if not for anything, it is going to be a big problem keeping your food down.

It is likely that the Moon (one sixth earth's gravity) and Mars (three eighths) are unlikely space real estate destinations.

Out of the box: Wherefore the MSC? ~ TheFazz

I came across a BBC article on the MSC, and felt the need to say my two sen worth.

Ten years ago, the Malaysian government launched one of the unfairly labelled mega projects called the Multimedia Super Corridor ("MSC").

The project was met with either awe or criticism. It was awe inspiring in the sense that it was so visionary for a country which was still pretty much trying to compete with its neighbours for manufacturing investment on the basis of cheap labour. It generated awe because the vision was simple and held a lot of truth: if Malaysia wanted to be competitive, it needed to focus on knowledge-based resources as opposed to low cost of doing business. Today, countries like China and India are attracting most of the investment by offerring precisely the low cost environment for businesses.

Differential diagnosis people! ~ TheFazz

I've been working on configuring my drupal code to support multi-sites including this one.

however, I've been having problems with the setup. I must emphasise that I have RTFM and still I cannot find what I am doing wrong. Differential diagnosis.. people - Doctor House would say.

I finding it almost impossible to diagnose. Support forums on the drupal website is not so helpful. lots of jargon and assumption that one must have linux knowledge to fix the problems.

Anyway, will keep plugging on.

Meanwhile check out Shakira shakira.

Racing & food don't mix(?) ~ TheFazz

It's probably a sign of the times (for me) when the F1 weekend is just a few hours away, and I am starting to think of food and I started googling for hors d'oeuvres.

My mouth starts to water.

Weird.

As it is now, I am struggling to keep my weight down... much to the chagrin and delight of my sometimes karting teammates and most of the times karting rivals. Luckily, I've still got my speed ha ha ha! Perhaps that will go soon, but in the meantime I shall enjoy it.

Why the website(s) building? ~ TheFazz

A colleague of mine recently asked me the question why I go about building the various websites that I do. What I expect, and have any of my expectations materialised?

A good question.

My view is simple: I have a number of interests, objectives and thoughts on various subjects. Sadly, I have very little time to further expand on those interests, objectives and thoughts (as an individual). However, I fully believe that as a community each individuals has the ability to "help each other" on these matters. The gain I seek for many of these are not monetary but of information, personal learning and development.

Been neglecting my blog ~ TheFazz

I have been neglecting my blog for somewhile. My usual excuse is that I have been too busy. Usual stuff.

I've been karting as well, but sadly too I have not been able to write much on the experiences. Over the past 30 days, I've had two karting events (round 2 of the 2006 KART series and round 1 of the Mega Enduro series), plus the 5th Foundation Conference.

In between that I've had a few discussions on my-KART's strategic developments. On the cards are plans to meet some charities, and getting to know some people in the industry.

MRR2 and the daily traffic battles ~ TheFazz

Closed MRR2 fly over at Kepong

Going to work in the mornings these days is no great joy (as if it ever was). The CNY week was a change from the usual road hassles. Clear traffic in KL! What a concept.

So just before the traffic returns to clog the capital's arteries, our esteemed minister, Samy Vellu finally decides to close the MRR2 fly over in Kepong after a long controversy (blog1, blog2).

Busy, but so many things to do for my-kart ~ TheFazz

Busy and multitasking

It's the usual year end thing. You see, I'm an accountant - of sorts. Our company year end is december. So January is usually a hectic time for us as we close our books and the auditors come in. But typing this down is already boring, so I'll quit.

I guess karting is more interesting.

Anyway, a few weeks back a few of us my-kart guys paid a visit to Rosedi Kart at Subang Jaya. Subang Jaya navigation is not for the meek, I must say. With all the massive road works and the terminal & inherent traffic problems, you really need to know exactly how you are going to get to your destination. Otherwise you'd be stuck in a chronic traffic jam.
